What is SOC 2 Type 2 Compliance?

SOC 2 (Service Organization Control 2) is a rigorous auditing framework developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). While SOC 2 Type 1 evaluates the design of security controls at a specific point in time, Type 2 goes much further by examining the operational effectiveness of those controls over an extended period, typically six to twelve months.
