We are happy to announce that we now support billing accounts on Scribie.com. Billing accounts are where you can order your transcripts online and pay on a Net 15 or Net 30 basis. We send you a bill at the end of the month or whenever you request it. The volume requirement for billing accounts are higher though. We can only consider it for order amounts of more than $1000. We also require a contract to be signed before the billing account can be set up.
We were unable to support billing accounts previously as we followed a different model where we paid our transcribers as soon as their work was reviewed. That meant that we had to charge our customers upfront. This was radically different from other freelance marketplaces where there are restrictions on withdrawal of earnings. We decided to do away with such restrictions as our aim was to build the best place for audio/video transcription.
But Net billing is an important requirement for Enterprises and SMEs and many of our customers requested it. Our solution to this problem was to get a line of credit from our bank. We finally got the approval for it last week. A big shout out to our bankers for this!
So if you are looking for a billing account with us, just get in touch with us and we will start the process.
We are pleased to announce an across-the-board 20% drop in our pricing effective today. Our new transcription rates are as follows:
Scribie New Transcription Rates
We started with the mission to build the best place for transcription; both for transcribers and customers. We have been relentlessly pursuing our goal and recently have built technology that helps reduce the time and effort of transcribers, without compromising accuracy in any way. We are happy to pass on the savings to our customers.
We have always stood for accuracy and our goal has been to provide the highest quality transcript, at the lowest possible cost. However, we still want to compensate our transcribers fairly. The only way to solve this problem was with technology. Our tech has now been rolled out in production and we are happy to reach this milestone. This is the real test of whether our tech is good enough or not!
We will be talking more about our tech here in the coming days. So check back here if you’re interested in the details. In the meantime, upload your files online and order transcripts online to enjoy the benefits tech can offer with our reduced pricing.

This new feature allows the payment method added by the first team member to be shared with everyone else and orders can be placed using that.

2017 Transcription Policy Changes
Thank you for choosing Scribie for your transcription needs. We have a few important policy updates for 2017. These changes come into effect from Jan 1st, 2017.
It is important to note that a majority of our customers will not be adversely affected by these changes. It will improve our operational efficiency and enable us to serve you better.
Over the past 12-months, we have experienced incredible growth—for a small unfunded startup, this is no easy feat and we are very grateful to all our customers for that. We believe that the reason for such unprecedented growth is our core philosophy we hold dear and fast.
This fundamental philosophy is simple:
- We will never compromise on the quality of the transcripts, irrespective of the difficulty level.
- We will always compensate our transcribers fairly for their time and effort.
- Flex 5 is now called Budget, 1 Day is now Regular, Express is Rush.
- Pricing for Regular and Rush has been increased.
- Turnaround for Budget is 5 days instead of 3-5 days. Similarly, turnaround for Regular is 36 hours instead of 24-36 hours and Rush is 12 hours instead of 8-12 hours.
- Bulk discounts have been withdrawn.
The new rate chart is the following
Transcription Rate, per minute of audio
Budget: Our most affordable price point will stay the same but in order to manage expectations the delivery date has been simplified to 5 days. However, it is important to note we will do everything possible to deliver as early as possible. We would rather exceed our customer’s expectations, rather than merely meet them. This was called Flex 5 earlier, with a turnaround time of 3-5 days.
Regular: Scribie has nominally increased the price for orders to be delivered in 36 hours. This allows us to compensate transcribers for working after hours and overtime to ensure your files are delivered with the highest quality and accuracy within 36 hours. Once again, we will try our hardest to beat the delivery expectation without sacrificing quality and accuracy. This was called 1 Day earlier with a turnaround time of 24-36 hours.
Rush: Scribie has adjusted the price for orders to be delivered in 12 hours. Again, this ensures our transcribers are paid appropriately for their time and effort while guaranteeing your files are delivered with the highest quality and accuracy within 12 hours. And just like our other services, our goal will be to beat these delivery expectations. This was called Express earlier, with a turnaround time of 8-12 hours.
Bulk Discounts: Scribie will no longer discount bulk orders. In the spirit of authenticity, we are creating an even playing field for all our customers.

Scribe Transcribes Public Speeches
We’ve just started an exciting new blog series in which we’ll be transcribing numerous major speeches from top political and influential public figures. This will include presidential speeches, debates, major press conferences and much more.
As one of the top transcription services in the industry, we are in a unique position to ensure this information is publicly available. Without any biased commentary, we provide the full transcript so you understand the complete context of what was said. And with all of our transcriptions, we maintain a 98% accuracy guarantee. We believe this is important because many of today’s leading websites no longer offer the full transcript, instead, opting for out-of-context pull quotes which often change the original message.
Scribie does not endorse or condone a position regarding any political candidate, group, or cause. These transcripts are intended solely as a resource in aiding the flow of unadulterated information.
Here are a few we’ve already transcribed
Peter Thiel — RNC Speech
Donald Trump — RNC Acceptance Speech
Bernie Sanders — DNC Speech
Michelle Obama — DNC Speech
Hillary Clinton — DNC Acceptance Speech
Warren Buffett — Hillary Omaha Speech
We hope you enjoy this series as much as we enjoyed transcribing it. Please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any request for speeches to transcribe.

Google provides us with a variety of services and tools to make our lives easier. One tool in particular, voice dictation, is now available in Google Docs. It’s an easy feature that makes the lives of those using it run a little smoother. Need to get an email sent? How about the notes for your next business meeting? Google Docs voice dictation makes that possible, without you having to really lift too many fingers.
To get started, you will need to have the latest version of Google Chrome installed and a microphone for your computer. With these tools set up, you’ll head to Google Drive and open a new Google Docs word processing document. You’ll go to the top menu and select Tools, then . A pop-up window will appear with a dark microphone icon in the middle. Once you click on the microphone, it will turn red to signify that it’s recording and you can start to speak.
It’s okay if you need to think about your words as you’re speaking; Google will wait. When you’ve completed your dictation, click the microphone to turn off the dictation. It is important to note that punctuation needs to be dictated.
An added benefit to voice dictation is that you can edit and format as well. Take the sentence, “I like pie.” To edit or format it, just say “select ‘I like pie’ and follow that with whatever formatting change you need to make. That could include “apply heading” or “apply underline.”
You can also create itemized list by saying “create numbered list” or “create bullet list.” When you need to go to the next item on the list, just say “new line” and say “new line” twice to finish the list. And no fears if you mess up! You can simply say “undo” to change any mistakes.
For transcribers, these features can be a great time saver. Not only that, but it can reduce the amount of effort you have to put in to typing up your latest project. Life made simple by Google. It’s as though Google just provided you with the option of having your own free secretary. For those you who may wonder what all can you type with your voice, Google even made a complete list of commands for your viewing pleasure.
We have AWESOME news for you. Now, there are only 3 rates in regards to turnaround options: express, 1 day, and 5 day. There used to be 5 options that included: Express, 24 hours, 5 days, 15 days and 30 days. Of course, there are a few of you out there wonder why the change? Why take away choices or even limit your choices?
For starters, there’s a psychological reason behind it. According to research, we are actually happier with fewer choices and it enables us to actually make an informed decision. More choices tend to make us less satisfied than when we had fewer choices. Take it one step further, we are paying more for the same things we had prior to the additional choices. By decreasing the number of choices, you as customers, have a simple decision to make.
Another benefit for customers can be seen in the 5 day option. Once the 3rd day comes around, customers can see a draft transcript. This allows you to get some work done ahead of schedule.
From a business point of view, it allows us to streamline the process, which in turn makes it a better experience for you, the customer. This means it reduces issues with quality and services, there’s a reduction in wasted resources, and a decrease in cost.
At Scribie, we want to make the entire process for you a simple and easy one. We know that your time is precious and who wants to sit contemplating over choices and whether they made the right one? Take back your time for things that really matter. For more information on the updated rates, just click here.
