New Feature: Account Credits

We are pleased to announce that account credits are now supported on Scribie. Account credits are funds which you can add to your Scribie account and use it to pay for transcript orders, automated transcripts or any other payments on Scribie. Your credit card will be charged only once and all subsequent payments will be charged to your account credits. Account credits can be also be shared with team members and they do not expire. However, account credits cannot be withdrawn or transferred. You can only use it for payments on Scribie.com.

Account credits can be added from the settings page.

Click the Add Credits button to add credits and enter the amount. That will lead you to the invoice page where your credit card will be charged. On successful payment, the credits will show up in your account immediately.

Credits will be automatically applied (provided the setting is enabled) to all invoices and you can just pay with your account credit to place an order. The following screenshot shows the invoice page after the credit has been applied.

If the invoice amount is less than available credits, you only have to pay the difference as shown in the following screenshot.

Any refunds for payments made with account credits will be sent to account credits by default. If part of the payment has been made with account credits, then the refund will be split between the payment method and account credits. However, you can choose to have all refunds sent to account credits as well from the settings page. Credit Card refunds take a few days to hit the bank, but account credits refund will show up immediately in your account.

Account credits can also be used for any orders placed through the API. This is especially useful for playing around with our system.

Scribie Announces Partnership With Amolto Call Recorder

Scribie is proud to announce their partnership with Amolto Call Recorder for Skype. This partnership allows you to order transcriptions of the Skype calls directly from within the Amolto Call Recorder. Amolto Call Recorder provides you with software that makes it easy to record your Skype calls. When you start your Skype call, Amolto starts to record automatically. A simple and easy to use interface pops up on the screen. (It’s important to note that this is only available for Windows).

To utilise this new feature, register for a new Scribie account from the special partner page. You will get an API key which you need to copy in the Amolto Call Recorder options page.

 

 

Once you’ve done that, you can request new transcription directly from Amolto Call Recorder by opening the “Recording history” window.

 

Select the recording and click on the ‘Transcription menu’ to upload to Scribie.

 

You’ll be able to see the progress of your transcription in ‘Recording History’. Once the transcription is complete, you can choose any of the supported formats e.g.Microsoft Word (.doc), OpenDocument Text (.odt) and Adobe PDF (.pdf) and plain text (.txt), to download your file.

With this partnership both Amolto and Scribie intends to give their customers a seamless experience. There’s no need to download recordings or upload files in multiple places. The combined services of Scribie and Amolto brings you, the customer, the same service and accuracy you have been accustomed to with Scribie, plus the added benefit of convenience to get your Skype calls transcribed in one easy place. The Transcription Service REST API

We have just released the first version of our REST API. Till now, our web interface was the only one could consume our service. With the API, any application can now use it. Please visit the following link for the documentation.

This release marks somewhat of a milestone for us. When we started working on our transcription service six years ago, in 2008, we had exactly this goal in mind; a transcription service API where you can post your files to be transcribed, with a minimum quality and turnaround guarantee. We actually looked around but didn’t find any. That’s how we started.

In these six years we have built a transcription system which is scalable, repeatable and provides a minimum quality and turnaround guarantee. So after a lot of trial and error, and a lot of engineering, we have finally achieved what we had started out to do. That definitely feels great!
